Change language to English to Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition

My brother sent me a Toshiba laptop that came pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 SP2. But the problem is windows is in German language and am not able to understand anything on this system.

Can anybody please tell me how can I change it to English if possible?

Usually normal Xp os has the language pack with which we change the language of our windows but I don’t think it is available for media Center Editions. The only option I can suggest is to either purchase the English version and do a clean installation.

Yes, that is correct. You will need to buy English version of windows MCE and do a clean install. You cannot upgrade or install a different language version of Windows. For more info, just check this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282089

That is very sad part I guess. I mean, we just paid for this Windows and now I need to pay/buy again a new windows. If I’m not using this window then I should be refunded for the same right? Or atleast I should be given option to use this window again in future if I need. This is very unfair or the technology is poor.

I have just brought a media center here in spain, spanish operating system-winxp media center- guess i will have to learn the words in englsih now
