| ad2mpegin.dll of Adobe Premiere Elements 2 ruins media Center PC!
Hi! After installing Adobe Premiere Elements 2 on my Microsoft Media Center 2005 PC, I get an error message every time I turn on my PC, it says: "ActiveMovie Window: ehExthost.exe - Unable To Locate Component: This application has failed to start because ad2mpegin.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I did a file search, ad2mpegin.dll exists in this directory on my PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 ehExthost.exe worked just fine before I install Adobe Premiere Elements 2, why now it needs ad2mpegin.dll to function? How do I tell it that the file is there on my C drive and stop complaining? Thanks! |

Thanks for replying, Robert. I solved the problem by copying the file into system32 folder. but I guess yours is a better way.. Thanks again. I will try it. |

I'm having the exact same problem (except I get the error when I go to Online Spotlight in Media Center, not when I boot the PC). I tried your suggestion of running regsvr32 but I got the following error message when I did: "ad2mpegin.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered." |

As I said in my previous post, just copy the file into system32 folder, everything is fine again. It is apparently a bug on Adobe's side. However, I do find it annoying that encoder/decoder come with elements would interference with the media center function. |

I had this problem and had to remove and re-install premiere. Well, does re-install solve the problem? in my case it did... apparantly something screwed up that dll when I went from 2004 to 2004 mce.. |

oops meant 2004 to 2005 MCE.. what do you doubt? it was a documented effect of the upgrade in my case, confirmed by my pc manufacture who supplied the warning that it would likely break premiere.. |

I had the exact same error when attempting to open intervideo in mce2005 after installing Premiere Elements 2. I tried your fix above and the error message disappeared! Thank you. |

I had this same problem. I fixed it by adding the path to the Adobe Premiere Elements folder to the "Path" environment variable. This seems to be the most elegant solution. It's definitely an Adobe Bug. It seems they are registering dlls with Active Movie and the dlls are not on the system path. |
