Make sure you mention the Knowledge Base article number when you talk with
them. It will facilitate receiving the information without charge.

RE: Does anyone have this Hotfix?

I got the Hotfix, but it didn't work. This is the message I got:

"Setup cannot continue because one or more pre-requisites required to
install KB894553 failed. For More details check the Log File
C:\WINDOWS\KB894553.log"

I read the log and where it looks like the installation went wrong was this:

"0.078: Condition Check for Line 2 of PreRequisite returned FALSE
0.078: ReadStringFromInf: SetupGetLineText failed: 0xe0000102"

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Re: Does anyone have this Hotfix?

Do you really have Media Center Edition 2005 _plus_ the Sonic Encoders
installed?

BTW, why do you want this hotfix anyway? You seem to be located in the USA
where there is no PAL content to be received and recorded AFAIK. If you
don't have any PAL content to burn to DVD, why do you want a hotfix for
this feature?

Re: Does anyone have this Hotfix?

Yeah, pretty sure I have MCE 2005. Asking because I found an article that
claims this fixes the exact problem I'm having. The exact way it's happening.

In the post you replied to I said, "I got the Hotfix, but it didn't work"
and listed the error I got. Was hoping somebody had encountered this and had
a suggestion.

This was the error
"Setup cannot continue because one or more pre-requisites required to
> > install KB894553 failed. For More details check the Log File
> > C:\WINDOWS\KB894553.log"

The log it says to check is the number of the Hotfix. That's why I'm asking.

Re: Does anyone have this Hotfix?

I think you missed an important clue in Robert's reply; he was trying to
offer a suggestion as to why the Hotfix didn't work.

He asked if you were in the U.S.; that was important as the two
prerequisites for this Hotfix are:

- A recorded TV broadcast is in the PAL video format.
- You try to burn a recorded TV broadcast by using Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition 2005.

If you are in the U.S., then condition #1 is not true and may be the reason
for the failure.

Re: Does anyone have this Hotfix?

Read the instructions, checked the KB, but have not called M$ yet. I am up
to date on all patches (US based workstation) for the MCE OS also checked
Sonic and I am up to date there also.

I am in hopes that someone else has called MS by this time, but likewise I
would think from July to December 2005 they would have something posted that
US users could use to fix this problem on creating DVDs. This problem came
up for me when I tried to create a slide show of my own pictures.

If you have Update Rollup 2 installed, it installs versions of the files
that supercede the files that come with kb894553.

Installing kb894553 won't do anything for you if you already have Update
Rollup 2 installed (the qfe won't replace the newer files..

KB894553 comes with
