Dreaded Dell and Sigmatel Audio Drivers

I did a reinstall of Windows XP on Dell XPS400 which lost the sound. It is running with IDT Sigmaltel STAC9220x5. I went to their site and download Audio drivers but sound wont work. I downloaded another drivers from Dell’s website but yet the sound wont come. Even tried installing/updating driver directly from Device Manager but yet the same result.

Does anyone have any idea regarding this? Please help. Thanks in advance.

OK, just try out these steps and see if it works. Open Control Panel, click on System , open System Properties, click on Hardware, and open Device Manager. Now on the Toolbar click “View”. Here look for PCI bus, open it and look for Audio. Now click Audio and you will find SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio. Right click the same and click Properties. It will open in General, simply click on Driver. That all the help I can give you
