Vista Media Center won't play DVDs, nothing's working

I've had my computer for about a year and when I first got it, the media center worked fine. Then it stopped working out of no where. It gives the typical message " MC can't play this DVD. it is either in use by another app..blahblahblah".

Any ideas how to fix this? (ideally free)

Also, while I have your attention, how do I use the TV feature on MC?

Have you installed any other DVD playing or burning programs? Some of them
damage the ability of MC to play DVD.
What make/model TV turner did your purchase with your MC PC? What type of TV
signal do you have connected to it?

Possible the drive has failed. Can you play the DVD outside of Media Center?

You need to have a TV tuner installed on your system.
