Please go here to download the most recent available version of
windows media player :

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...1/default.aspx

That will work for windows XP - Vista already has a version of media
player which cannot be downloaded or replaced.

What is it you're trying to do, and why ?

Re: PROBLEM: COMMAND LINE OPTION SYNTAX ERROR. TYPE COMMAND /? FOR

OK I think I approximately get what you're doing, though it's still a
bit of a guess.

If you can't find media player at all, go to windows explorer (not
internet explorer, the browser, but into My Computer)

Find the C: drive, then Program Files folder, and below that, the
folder called Windows Media Player.

Inside that folder is an icon for wmplayer.exe (it may just be called
wmplayer). Right-click that with your mouse, then choose from that
menu, "Send To -> Desktop"

That will create a (new) media player icon on your desktop which you
can use to start media player up.

Once that's running,

On windows XP you can go to media player's more options (any of the
small dropdown menus, e.g below Now Playing is a small menu, then
choose More Options from there)

Now go to File Types, and Select All file types.

On Vista, instead, you'd head to Control Panel, then Default Programs
(or type Default Programs into the Search box on the start menu), find
windows media player on that list, then set it default for all files
it can handle.

In both cases (XP or Vista) you should always use Save As for the file
attachment from your email, and save it to your local computer (e.g.
to the My Videos folder) before trying to play it by double-clicknig
the video file :

Some email programs don't tell media player what to do with the file
when you try to play it back directly from the email.

HTH - Cheers, Neil
