| No Start button, toolbar or icons on desktop
Hi After using and closing down my laptop correctly this morning, I have opened up again to find no start button, toolbar or icons on my desktop. I receive 2 error messages. The first says Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The second says DrWatsonPostmortem Debugger has encounted a problem and needs to close. I cant refresh the page. The only thing I can get up is task manager. There are 3 users on this laptop and the other 2 are working, its just mine. I have searched online for solutions and have tried the following answers - 1) open in safe mode and do a system restore. 2) do a system restore normally 3) remove explorer.exe from task manager process and then set up as new task 4) on task manager click new task type in regedit, clicked ok,go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Image File Execution Options\ and delete explorer.exe and or iexplorer.exe and reboot. None of these have worked. I am at the end of my tether and have been trying to sort this for 3 hours now and am ready to throw the laptop out of the window! Surely it cant be a virus as it would affect the other 2 users. Any help would be appreciated, I am a bit techically challenged!!!! Thank you |
