How to fix faulting module msvcrt.dll?

This application error is showing up in the event log when the FedEx software
is attempting to connect to the Fedex web site.

Actually the error description reads, "Faulting application commsetup.exe,
version 1.0.0.1, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.2600.5512, fault
address 0x00037696.

Otherwise internet connectivity is working properly. I've been researching
this issue and about the only solution I'm seeing in Microsoft knowledge base
is to download library updates. When I go to the link - I don't see any
library updates.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
