| can not find media center icon
i recently had to re install windows vista home premium using the back up disk,s that i made when i purchased my computer, but when it was back up and running , the icon for windows media center simply isnt there! i do not have the original windows vista installation disk, because they did not come with the computer, windows media center used to work ok but now it just isnt there anymore ....anyone have any idea,s ?? |

Check under:- C:\windows\ehome\ehshell.exe Create a new desktop shortcut for "ehshell.exe" What security programs are you running? Make sure that Windows Media Center is set as default program. thanks for responding to my question, i did as you suggested, but all that happens is i get a message up saying: windows can not open this programe because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy for more information contact your system administrator: i dont have a clue what this means!!! iv,e created the desktop icon ,but when i try to run it i get this message : windows cannot open this programe because it has been prevented by a software restiction policy for more information contact your system administrator. i have no idea what this means!! any idea,s ?? how do i set windows media center as "default" ? all i can tell you is windows firewall is ON internet security settings ON USER ACCOUNT CONTROL IS ON AND I AM RUNNING norton 360 (which is on ) i hope this helps...thanks!! all i can tell you is that :windows firewall is ON internet security settings ON USER ACCOUNT CONTROL IS TURNED ON and i am running NORTON 360 I HOPE THIS HELPS...THANKS!! sorry i havent been able to get back to you, (trouble logging in!) anyway i did as you suggested , and was eventually able to navigate to the part where i "make windows media player the default player" and hey presto!! everything is back to normal again!! MANY THANKS!! many thanks for trying to help me , i have managed (via the forum) to track down the problem (by making windows media center my default player) and all seems to be ok now , |
