| Reinstall Media Center in Vista?
My system has become increasingly unstable, now at 1.7. My monitor goes black suddenly, and nothing but time makes it light up again (not even a hard restart, which reduces the stability index ha ha). I sync with a phone and elderly IPAQ, and neither one of those syncs all that well. I figured that the old devices had loose pins, and that the monitor cable might be weakening as well. I reinstalled the phone sync software and the driver for the monitor from the manufacturers' websites. Then I checked the Reliability Monitor. The error messages indicate that I must reinstall Media Center. In Vista, must I reinstall the whole OS? What will I lose with the reinstall? Would you also replace those cables and/or devices? BTW, there is also a teen in the house who spends much time watching computer tv shows and listening to computer music with earphones, and probably hooks up an MP3 player as well. (Not my child, or she would be getting more exercize.) |

What exact error message are you getting? Instead of reinstalling the whole OS why don't you run Windows Media Center Set Up again? To do so,open Windows Media Center,go to Settings>General>Windows Media Center Setup>Run Setup Again. Does it help? regards, S.Sengupta[MS-MVP] "Ane" <Ane.3r4qfc@DoNotSpam.com> wrote in message news:Ane.3r4qfc@DoNotSpam.com... > > My system has become increasingly unstable, now at 1.7.
