| Live Broadcst streaming to the internet
I have sucessfully installed Windows media encoder and server on my network at church. I am streaming live across the intranet. I have an IIS 6.0 webserver in a DMZ. The asx file is located in Inetpub\ wwwroot. When I try to access the announced asx file in the webpage, the web page appears but the asx/video stream fails. I have tried opening ports on my Netgear firewall, but have been unsuccessful. Can anyone help me? |

Not sure where the issue is based on what you have described Can you play direct from the encoder? Do you have two IP addresses, one for the media server and one for IIS? or how are you separating the two? Does the media server see the encoder? Does the publishing point start? If the publishing point starts, can you play directly from the media server pub point? email me direct if you need more help Dennis TotalStream.net |

Can you play direct from the encoder? I have triewd to connect to the encoder using the URL in the media payer. I was not successful. I could continue trying tio make thst work, but I felt the IIS servere should work. Do you have two IP addresses, one for the media server and one for IIS? or how are you separating the two? The IIS server is in the DMZ. It has a local IP address (non-routed) 192,168. 0.xx. The media server is on the local network. They can see each other. I can run the stream locally, from the IIS machine and from the other clients on the network. Does the media server see the encoder? Does the publishing point start? Yes. It starts when executed on the LAN. Only when I try to connect from outside the stream fails. I get the web page, but the asx dos not start. I thought it may be the MMS; protocol blocked at the firewall. I have opened TCP/UDP ports on the firewall without any success. If I run from the encoder, will I need to host the stream with a service? If the publishing point starts, can you play directly from the media server pub point? Dennis, or anybody any ideas? Do I need a rule on the firewall for MMS:? This looks like the protocol used to stream from the media server to the .asx file on the webserver. Since I can view the media player from the local netowork and from the webserver in the DMZ (using the external IP address) I have to assume the problem is in the firewall. I have tried multiple ports TCP & UDP but still no luck. HELP! seallen wrote: >Can you play direct from the encoder? >I have tried to connect to the encoder using the URL in the media payer. Hello I would like to tell you guys that streaming video on the internet is much easier that you do. Try using BlinkoTV which is a professional broadcasting solution. You can get LIVE in a few minutes. |
