Connecting Dish Network to Windows XP MCE

I just signed up for Dish Network (no cable at my new house) and I'm trying to connect XP MCE to my Dish Network receiver and when I'm going through the setup steps in MCE, it wants me to connect my MCE remote sensor directly with a cable to the back of the satellite receiver box. Unfortunately there is no spot to plug a cable into the back of the Dish Network box. It has a remote antenna and that is it.

Are there any work arounds to this? I couldn't get through the setup steps, as MCE kept saying it couldn't detect the proper hardware to finish the setup.

Let me know if you need any other details. Thank you!

It actually wants you to connect the remote emitter in front of where the
remote receiver is on your set top box. It is likely at the front of the
set top box rather than the back, so that your remote would have better line
of sight based on where you're sitting (they don't intend for you to sit
behind your tv... you wouldn't be watching much tv from that angle) :)

Someone else said there is a cable that came with my computer for the computer's remote sensor that has a "sticker" on the other end with a sensor I put over the IR sensor on the Dish receiver box. Is this what you are referencing? The diagram in the MCE setup for satellite acctually shows plugging a cable from the back of the MCE remote sensor box to the back of the dish receiver box to allow the MCE remote control to run the dish receiver. I just moved into my house, so I need to dig to find the extra parts for the computer's remote sensor to see what I have. There are no spots to plug a cable into the Dish receiver on either the front or the back of the box to connect my MCE remote sensor box. Thanks for your help!

Re: Connecting Dish Network to Windows XP MCE

You would plug an IR Blaster (sometimes call an IR bug or emitter) into the
back of the MC Remote sensor and then stick it to the cable box over the
sensor window. Sometimes the window is hard to spot and using a flashlight
with reveal the exact location.
