Upgrading windows xp media center edition 2002 to media center 2005

Currently am using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 which has become very old now and planning to upgrade it to Edition 2005 but I don’t have any idea what all does it involves. Do just I need to purchase Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/SP2B for System Builders OEM ? Or is there anything else I need?

Please provide your suggestions and advices? Many thanks for all helps.

re: Upgrading windows xp media center edition 2002 to media center 2005

If you buy XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/SP2B for System Builders OEM then you will be only able to do a clean install of 2005 edition. You wont be able to do upgrade process and keeping all your installed programs as it is. By the way first of all make sure that you have edition 2002 because if you have had installed SP2 or SP3 updates then it would have become MCE 2004. You can do this by going to MC interface, Setting, System, About.
