will Media Center Play .ts or .tp files

I am thinking of building a media center PC. Will Media Center play .tp or
..ts high def files natively (or with little modification)?

No. MCE will not play these formats natively. You may be able to install a
codec for them, but MCE may still not recognize the format.

I addressed this problem just yesterday, and solved it, at least for me. I
have Windows 7 beta installed on my wife's HTPC. I chose Win7 for the more
advanced features of its Media Center, primarily the better QAM support. I
had noticed that Windows Media Player 12 that's native to Win7 could play the
..ts I record on my HTPC (XP and BeyondTV). It does not like the file
extension, but is happy to play these files just fine. MC7 won't recognize
these .ts files for playing in the Videos department. However, by changing
the file extension to .mpg (which is what they really are anyway) MC7 plays
them fine. So, problem solved for now.
