Disabling Live TV Buffer in Vista Media Center

I am trying to search for a way to disable the live tv buffer that media center has. I have got a Dish Network and the receiver that I am using comes with a built in DVR so I dont need this feature. The TV Tuner card that I am having is able to get input from a RF modulator via a coax. This modulator has my Nintendo Wii via RCA cables and Satellite service via coax cable which is connected to it. I have also got my TV settings in Vista media center set to Analog and then video and audio comes fine, except there is some delay which basically prevents from playing my Nintendo Wii. So, can anyone tell me how do I fix this issue? Thanks

RE: Disabling Live TV Buffer in Vista Media Center

I think that disabling the live TV buffer is not going to help you. I also thing that the live TV buffer is actually around 30 minutes. It normally takes time to encode a block of video. The TV tuner or its driver would not be designed to be a realtime encoder and might have low latency. Incase the projector that you have has multiple inputs then I will recommend you to hook up the gaming console to different input and thus the encoding delays will be eliminated that you are getting.

You can try to increase Buffer Size for Pausing Live TV by going into the registry editor.

Firts of all go to Start and then type regedit in Run and find the below registry item:
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners"

    BackingFileDuration the defalt is 300

Setting BackingFileDuration to "600" will give you 1 hour

Setting BackingFileDuration to "900" will give you 1.5 hours

Setting BackingFileDuration to "1200" will give you 2 hours

So, I think that if you set buffer to 0 then it will work properly.
