How do I reinstall Windows Media Center?

Do I have to reinstall Windows XP on a clean format to get Windows Media
Center to work again? I get a whole bunch of EHSHELL.EXE error messages and
can't use TV or DVD.

The application is useless and have to use third party programs that don't
work on my computer as far as recording TV shows because the PC has to run
24/7 and doesn't wake up from sleep mode.

There is no real method to just install the MCE bits, you would need to
reinstall the whole OS or do a repair install.

Infact Clean Installation is a better choice for Windows MCE.

Can you reinstall windows media center without losing all data and programs
already on computer? The restore discs from HP do not allow this, but if I
buy a new media center 2005 OS discs to replace existing, will it restore the
media center? Very frustrating since the windows updates are why it stopped
working and uninstalling the updates cancels out any system restore feature.
