Windows Media Player not playing videos only colored lines showing

Media Play 11 stopped playing any MPEG-3 videos. When it opens I only see
colored lines moving across the screen and not video.

The videos play fines in all other type of players.

Probably you meant MPEG-2 (DVD video). Do you have a compatible DVD
decoder installed on that PC ? Or is it an expired trial version of a
DVD decoder package ? DecCheck can list the working DVD decoders :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Generally coloured lines in video can indicate a problem with the
driver software for your video card. Updating the driver software
normally helps, as these problems are noticed and fixed fairly
promptly by manufacturers.

Re: Windows Media Player not playing videos only colored lines sho

Neil,

Ran the program and had to reinstall some of the codec again. Everything is
working as it should,

Thank for the info.
