| Windows Error Code 19 for CD / DVD Drives missing
I have a Dell 2400 Dim. The CD/DVD Drives will not operate. I have tried every solution I could find on the internet. Please help I've tried: * Uninstall / restart from last know good config / restart * Unistall / delete Upper & LowerFilter registers / restart * Unistall / run a Registry patch / restart This is the error msg: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I'm trying to avoid formatting the drive and reinstalling the OS. I have a ton of software I can not replace... Please Help! |

Have you tried a different drive? | RE: Windows Error Code 19 for CD / DVD Drives missing
I'm having the same exact problem - i've tried all of the fixes online including the ones that were listed to this post - NOTHING is working. I dont understand how all of a sudden things just dont work - I have two drives that have this same issue all of a sudden. I wonder if it was some type of windows update or something that's responsible - it's not the drives I had those checked out - I even purchased a new one - same exact problem. I'm hoping someone can come come up with something besides directing you to the microsoft solution or the manufacture solution (they are exacclty the same) thing is because of the help listed there I no longer have the upper and lower filters - they would not come back even when I tried to export the saved file before the delete. it would be nice if there were just a reinstall for the drives instead of the updates ... The one solution you have not tried is a Clean install of the OS. Since you have a Dell, there is likely a restore partition hidden on your hard drive. Read your documentation. Here is the instructions for your Dell Dimension 2400. http://support.dell.com/support/topi...g=&toggle=&dl= -- CSM1 http://www.carlmcmillan.com -- "MsCheleT" <MsCheleT@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:048237E2-0474-4D83-8172-282438B285AB@microsoft.com... > I'm having the same exact problem - i've tried all of the fixes online > including the ones that were listed to this post - NOTHING is working. This should hopefully work for WebSFld who started the thread. I actually have a Compac Pavillion machine. I will check to see if there is something like this for compac machines - I sure do hope so. Thanks for your help.
