| Connecting HDMI out from laptop to receiver. Video good but no sound
I am using a Gateway T1625 laptop to play video on my Toshiba LCD. Until earlier today, I've been putting out video and sound directly to the TV with no problem via the HDMI. My problem is that earlier today, I purchased a Yamaha X-V463 receiver (2 HDMI in, 1 out), and I am able to see video passing through the receiver to the TV, but get no sound except via the laptop speakers. If I switch the receiver to my HDMI DVD player I get video AND sound. Can someone help me find out what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! |

| RE: Connecting HDMI out from laptop to receiver. Video good but no so
Most likely your receiver is not detecting the correct sound format, LPCM, DTS etc. Find out the format that the laptop is outputting and see if you can set the receiver to match. Alternately you can change the laptop's output format if the sound card/driver support multiple codecs. B.D. Do you have the HDMI audio enabled on your computer? I know that on one of my computers, I have tell it which audio to enable and disable the rest of the options.
