| The last update screwed up my comp..
Hello folks... I have an HP come running windows xp media centre, in the last security update for it, something happened after the update that screwed up my comp. I get the following same 3 error messages: RTHDCPL.EXE - ENTRY POINT NOT FOUND The procedure entry pointOpenVxHandle could not be located in the dyanmic link library KERNEL32.DLL. ALCWAZRD.EXE - ENTRY POINT NOT FOUND The procedure entry pointOpenVxHandle could not be located in the dyanmic link library KERNEL32.DLL. ALCMTR.EXE - ENTRY POINT NOT FOUND The procedure entry pointOpenVxHandle could not be located in the dyanmic link library KERNEL32.DLL. I can also not use windows update as it say's : Files required to use Windows Update are no longer installed on your computer. then it tries to get me to let it install the files necessary to use windows update or to install them myself, but of course it always fails to install... and gives me the error # 0x8024D007 . when I go to my device manager I get this error message: mmc.exe - unable to locate component This application has failed to start because DUSER.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. so I am kind of wondering where I go from here... I tried to go back to a restore date to an earlier point... but it didnt help at all...if any of you folks have any ideas.. I am all for it.. so please pass them on...all help is appreciated! Kev |

Have you tried System Restore? Select any restore point when everything was just fine. regards, S.Sengupta[MS-MVP] Dasplatman wrote: > I have tried that and it did not work I still have the same problems as > before...so further suggestions are still needed and apprecaited. > > "S.Sengupta" wrote: > > >>You need to update the Realtek audio driver the manufacturer's site. >> >>regards, >>S.Sengupta[MS-MVP] >> >> >>Dasplatman wrote: >> >>>Hello folks... | Re: The last update screwed up my comp..
Hi there... Yes I did try a system restore to before that update and nothing has changed... which is kind of why I am a little perplexed by this one.... so still seeking any suggestions to try.... I tried to see if I could remove the updates manually that I think caused this... but my comp will not open add/remove programs....so I dont know of another way to go about trying to remove the updates naually to see if that may clear the issue at hand..... so any ideas on any of the above are appreciated folks... Thanks for the suggestions so far S.Sengupta... they're appreciated..
