Windows Media player not listing flac files in library

We have few PCs in our office, all running with same configuration, operating system and Windows Media Player 11. I can see that all other WMP on other PCs can list flac files in their library but only my is not doing the same though it can play those files by double clicking them in windows explorer.

I don’t know what could be the reason and how to fix it. Can you guys please provide some solution?

Just go to settings and make sure that the check box for FLAC file type is marked. Save the settings, restart the WMP and see if it is getting listed in the same. If still you get the same problem then there is noting we can do. WMP 11 is very buddy. Better see if you can find anyway to return back to WMP 10.

Hey guys, it is just lack of knowledge. WMP 11 is not so buggy. You must know that Windows Media Player won’t support FLAC files by default. You need to install Direct show filter to play it and a plugin to do the tagging.

!!This worked for me!!:
1st exit from Windows Media Player
go to My Computer click on Tools and then click Folder Options...
Next click on the File Types tab and scroll down to flac
Next click on the Advanced button
Now click on the New button
Enter this... add to library for Action:
For the application box click on Browse and go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player and select the wmplayer.exe file.

Start Media Player and your flac files should start populating your library
