| "Windows Media Player Encountered a problem while playing..."
a few weeks ago - no problem playing anything. Now - windows media player 11 on a windows vista machine (all 4 of them) - no worky. How come i am not able to just uninstall the @@@@ (darn) thing... And why is it one week it works - the next no....? Can we go backwards to media playe 9, 10? And yes - done all the updates, etc etc etc.... If it is TOO HARD to figure it out to make it work - then someone on your end failed to make it easy to use. Sorry - tired of getting all these errors - and no quick fixes. |

"It doesn't work" is unfortunately no help diagnosing the problem. It seems you put the error message in the subject of the post, which typically is related to either a media file type or more likely, to video or sound card drivers which are broken or not vista compatible. So I guess - if you experiment on one of the machines (assuming all identical specifications) and try to play any type of audio - eg a CD, an MP3 which you know works on some other machine (a work PC for example), a MIDI file - and even to check if you have any system sounds at all when the PC starts up, that would let us know if the audio hardware is working. >How come i am not able to just uninstall the @@@@ (darn) thing... > >And why is it one week it works - the next no....? > >Can we go backwards to media playe 9, 10? No, WMP11 is the only version available for Vista. BTW you haven't mentioned if this is Vista home basic, premium, ultimate and so on. Only home premium and ultimate have the MPEG2 decoders needed for DVD playback, so if the problem is DVDs that's possibly the issue. >And yes - done all the updates, etc etc etc.... > >If it is TOO HARD to figure it out to make it work - then someone on your >end failed to make it easy to use. > >Sorry - tired of getting all these errors - and no quick fixes. Nothing is quick, you know that - you need to start at the beginning and describe the problem more fully, probably then somebody can help get you working Cheers - Neil ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2007 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs |
