| Recognize burner drive
I am running Windows XP Home Edition and Windows Media Player Ver. 11. Today when I went to burn a CD the window above the burn list which normally shows the presence of the blank disc I have inserted NOW shows a picture of a device and says that I need to connect to a burner and restart Windows Media Player. Nothing has changed on my computer since last used to burn a cd. I tested the drive with other burning software and it works fine. How to I get Windows Media Player to see by burner/drive again? |

I am having the same problem and have been unable to get any help from MSoft. Exact same situation as yours. I know this does not help you but if you get an answer please let me know. I will do the same. |

I have had Roxio on my laptop along with Windows Media without any problems but have uninstalled it as I have recently suffered the same problem but it has not helped. I can still burn to disc using other applications (Nero/Roxio) and I have tried some of the fixes from "googling" the problem including uninstalling iTunes, rolling back to Media v10 but none have helped. I have a feeling the last Windows update may have something to do with it - if that can be removed I'm going to try that next. I'll post back if it helps. |

I just started having the same problem. Other burning software works. WMP just stopped regonizing the drive that used to work fine. The drive "properties" shows a "recording" tab. I can't believe this is such a common issue that nobody knows how to fix. !! -- Keep on Tryin "Patricia" wrote: > I am running Windows XP Home Edition and Windows Media Player Ver. 11.
