Media Player 11 slow to play .wmv files when "media changing..."

Whenever I go to play a .wmv file on Windows Media Player 11 (build
11.0.6000.6336), the player will hang up for 30 seconds to 1 minute, while in
the lower left it gives the message, "media changing...". This happens even
if a .wmv file was played just before. This doesn't happen with mpegs or
avi's, only wmv files. I have turned off all of the special settings to
enhance playback or gather additional info from the internet to streamline
the file opening, but nothing reduces or eliminates the delay.

I have Vista home premuim, fully updated, as is media player 11. Any ideas
on what might be causing this or how I can get files to open immediately as I
open them, just like other formats? Thanks for your help.

Even I'm facing the same problem. WMP 11 is too slow whenever I change the
song/video. In addition to this, last twenty seconds of the song will be
disturbed if I have more than one song in my playlist. If I have only one
song in my playlist, it will take time to play, but I won't have any
disturbance at the end. Can anyone help???
