    Fatal error Code 1 / -3 / 9000

I have got Windows Media Player 11 in my system and when I am trying to open some folder with video files in it then I will get the below error message:

"We are very sorry, but an internal error occured. Please re-install the product to fix the problem.

    Error-Code 1 / -3 / -9000

    See Doc #5305"

Can anyone tell me how do I fix this error message?

The error that you are getting seems to be related with DRM, since the mp3 format wont be having the DRM capabilities. Have you installed any codec packs recently? If so, then try to uninstall it because there are some codecs that cause problems like the one that you are facing. Another thing that you can do to fix this issue is to go to Start Menu, then All Programs and Accessories and then run command prompt and then type the following text - sfc /scannow and press enter. Let it complete and see to it if there are any issues reported and it can be fixed or not.

Thanks for the reply, but anyways, I have now solved the problem by simply uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows Media Player 11, now am not getting that error message anymore.

The error is associated with Jscript registry key values. If they are not proper you get this kind of issue. You can try fixing the same by re-registering the dll files. There are two files Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll that you have to re-register to fix the issue. For that press Windows Key + R from your keyboard and in that type regsvr32 jscript.dll and hit enter. In the same way once again launch the Run box and type regsvr32 vbscript.dll and hit enter. That's it. Restart your pc once and check back. If the issue appear again then run system restore.

You can also resolve the problem by modifying Windows Registry. You have to backup the before making changes. So here press Windows key + R and in that type regedit and hit enter. Go to the following location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32. You have to check the default value here which is is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL. You can add this manaully also. Add this thing and then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c261-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32. Add the same thing here also. That's it. Restart your pc and check back.

Are you having Nero software installed in your computer? I was also getting the same error code on my pc popping up all the time, so I uninstalled Nero software and this error didnt appear any more. I have not reinstalled the software yet but will do it some other time to check if the same error code comes up again or not. Other workaround for this problem would be to do a complete System Restore to a time when everything was working properly but remember to take a backup first in your computer.
