    WMP10 / clvsd.ax error

I am trying to play some DVDs in Windows Media Player 11 running in Windows XP SP2 but it fails saying:

“WMP has encountered a problem etc...I click for more information and get:
    Error signature
    AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer:11.0.5705.5043 ModName: clvsd.ax
    ModVer: 6.0.0.2717 Offset: 0000d3ef”

I was getting this error on WMP 10 hence upgraded to WMP 11 assuming that upgrading will fix the problem but seems useless. Many websites suggest downloading and using PowerDVD, but I don’t have it.

Can you guys please tell me if there is any way of playing DVDs in WMP? Help will be appreciated.

I am not sure whether WMP v10 or v 11 supports PowerDVD decoder. But you can test it by going to Start > RUN and type the following codes followed by enter:

    regsvr32 c:\program files\cyberlink\shared files\videofilter\clvsd.ax
    regsvr32 c:\program files\cyberlink\shared files\audiofilter\claud.ax
    regsvr32 c:\program files\cyberlink\shared files\navfilter\clnavx.ax

If your system supports PowerDVD decoder, the after running these codes you must get a pop saying registration was successful. So run out the test and let me know the results.

Thanks for your help techguru but all those Command lines failed. It is saying the specified modules could not be found.

    Any other help please?

Alright, then just go to Control Panel >Add and Remove Programs and delete cyberlink. Now simply click this URL http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_dec...223-trial.html , Download Nvidia DVD decoder and install. This is the trial version but should work. If it worked properly you can purchase the full version later.
