    Upside down video image...

This is Windows Vista with Windows media Player 11. Yesterday I downloaded a movie from web which is in .AVI format. When I play it with WMP, the video appears upside down and backwards. I don’t know why. Audio is proper, just the image is upside down. I didn’t found any such settings in WMP to correct it.

So any of you here have any idea about this? Please give some advice.

Can you just run the GSpot program on your computer and let me which codec is it reporting to for AVI files?

If you don’t have GSpot on your system, you can download one from here.

Thanks for the help friend. As you said, I installed/run GSpot and it says that AVI files are using Div 3 Codec, Name: DivX 3 Low-motion. Status: Codec(s) are installed.

    What now?

AlrightLuis, I got the problem. There is nothing to worry. You just need to install the DivX 6 decoder and you should be running with backward compatibility to DivX 3 I think. You can DivX codec from here: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/ .

try it out and let me know the results.

It is still not working dude. I downloaded DIX codec and after that I was able to open the files in DivX Player and the Core Media Player but the video still appear upside down. I was thinking to re-install WMP again. Will it fix the issue?

I have been facing this problem couple of months ago but managed to fix it by opening WMP's Tools:Options:Performance:Advanced menu tool. then turned Off overlays and Video Mixing Renderer.

That’s it. It worked for me.
