Media Player 11 slow to play .wmv files when "media changing..."

I’m using Windows media Player 11 on Vista hp laptop. File formats such as mpegs or avi works fine on my system, but when I try playing any .wmv files, my media player gets freezed for a minute with a message at the lower left screen saying something “Media Changing”.

I checked the settings, everything seems to be proper. Infact I removed whatever special settings were done but yet facing the same problem. It occurs whenever I play a wmv video.

Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong? Please provide some solutions.

I am struggling with very similar problem. In my case when I play any song, the last 2 seconds of the song audio stutters automatically. Also most of the times it takes too much time to start the song. Am also using Windows media Player 11. If anyone got solution, please post here.
