Playing MKV files in Vista x64 Media Centre

I have a Vista 64bit laptop with both Media Center as well as Media Player. I downloaded a movie in MKV format that plays very well in Windows Media Player, but when I try paying the same in Media Center, it wont. Somebody suggested me to install Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) to fix this, well I installed but yet the same result.

So do anyone of you have any idea what is the problem with Media Center and how can I get rid of this?

Probably the problem is between 32bit and 64bit. If am not wrong your WMP is 32bit and Vista as well as Media Center is 64 bit. Also the CCCP you downloaded would be 32bit hence it is not getting the proper codec for media center that results in not playing the video. You will need to download 64bit codec in order to get rid of this. You may also download Haali media splitter to break out the Matroska container for media center.
