Wmp11 Library Problem

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I have with the Library although not just that.

Quite a while ago, for some reason all my files in my Library have disappeared, shown here: http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=librarynn7.jpg

It says it will add files in the background, but it does nothing. I can also go to my playlists on the left, right click and click play and it plays the music I had in them before.

Now I looked around the net from help and someone had another problem with their library and said to delete the WMP library file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Index. So ive done that and now in Monitor Folders there is nothing there as there should be but when I go to add the folders back like so: http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/2166/library2fx9.jpg

nothing happens, and when I go back to Monitor Folders that Folder Ive just added has just disappeared, very annoying.

Another major problem is for some unknown reason when I try and remove WMP11 via Add/Remove it says its rolling back but when I click on the Icon for WMP10 it does absolutely nothing.

I was wondering if there is a way of completely getting rid of WMP and starting fresh.

RE: Wmp11 Library Problem

UnionAdam,

Please go here and follow the instructions for reseting your Media Library.
This should resolve the issues you're experiencing.

RE: Wmp11 Library Problem

Achiomo,

I read all the threads you posted, you're having quite a tough time right now.

The first, important question is this:
Can you navigate to the MP3 files and play them in WMP from Windows Explorer?

RE: Wmp11 Library Problem

Achiomo,

I had a thought, when you said that 5000 items were found but none were
added, it makes me think that perhaps you're not actually looking at a
"Music" library. Media Player was redesigned to segregate Music, Videos,
Pictures, etc and it's possible that your music may be in the database file,
but that you're not on the Music view.

To see if you are, in the Player window in the upper left corner there are
two arrows, one that points left, one that points right. Just under that is
what we call a navigation bar. The left most item should be a musical note
and just to the right of that it should say "Music". If it does not say
Music, click whatever it is that's all the way to the left and select "Music"
from the menu that appears.

Do you see your music library now?

RE: Wmp11 Library Problem

Hey Mike,
I am able to click on songs in their respective folders, but they won't add
to the library itself. I checked the view, and when clicking on music, it
says there are no playlists and no music. Should I just uninstall and start
over? I know if i uninstall WM11 it will just roll back, so I don't know how
you would be able to go beyond that.

Hi again Achiomo,

Okay, now that I can see posts past two days ago, I can reply. When you
followed the instructions about fixing library problems, did you actually
rename the folder so something else as indicated in the instructions?

RE: Wmp11 Library Problem

Hey Mike, I don't know why this didn't post my responce, so I'll put it up
again. I am able to navigate to a song using my computer and play it in
wmp11. However, it wont save to library. I checked which window i was in too,
no dice. Is there a way to start from scratch?
Thanks,
Allison

Re: Wmp11 Library Problem

My posts haven't been showing, but I'll try again. I am able to navigate to a
folder through My Computer and play a song in wmp that way. However, it
doesn't add to the library. I played around with the views too, nothing is
saved. I'm at a loss.
