I’ve a Windows XP SP3 system with Windows Media Player 11. Today I bought an episode of Lost from Series 3 in .wmv music file from a website. When I go to play this file in Windows Media Player 11, I get an error message saying

“Missing codec Windows Media Audio 9 Standard (1)”

After searching to download this codec finally I went to WMplugins.com but there the codec are only available for Windows 98, ME and 2000. They don’t have it for my XP SP3 system. Any idea where can I get the codec for my system or any alternate way of playing this file WMP? Please advice.

Try downloading K-Lite Codec Pack it is wonderful and it does WORK!!!!

Thanks for your suggestion pswc but I don’t agree with you. As far as I have experienced, Klite is the worst codec of all. It creates more problem then WMP without codec. The best I can suggest is FFDShow codec. You can download it from here.Just install it and problem will be solved.
