Sound, but picture is just a green square

Hi,

after installing the latest windows upgrade earlier this week, the WMP can't
play streaming video from the net anymore. There's sound, but the picture is
just green.

Placing other windows on top of the player, the green colour "burns through"
the topmost window.

I've tried to reinstall WMP 11, but it didnt help.

What can I do?

I recently installed RealPlayer with a SuperPass subscription, I don't know
if thats related to the problem.

I use Windows XP SP2

Thanks!

Jacob

I have the same problem, but no fix as of yet. It all started after I
downloaded the latest microsoft updates earlier this week.

Re: Sound, but picture is just a green square

Just realized:

I can't watch web-tv in Internet Explorer (IE 7.0.5730.11)

But I can watch the stream, if I copy the url to Windows Media Player.

So is it a IE-problem?

Thanks
Jacob

Well,
That worked for a few hours. I was watching streaming video (pgatour.com)
and then went to another website and it stopped working. No idea....

I was having the same problem. I turned video acceleration all the way down.
Now I can stream but if I try going to full screen the player shuts down.

I may have found a better solution. Under hardware profiles display adapters
get the name and model of the adapter you are using. Go to the companies web
site and get the latest driver. Mine stopped working from latest ms updates
on the 9th. This fixed all my problems and I am able to turn acceleration
back up. If this still does not fix your problem try trouble shooting your
display adapter. Good luck.

Thanks rhayes1962. I've been searching for days on why I could hear videos
on the internet, but get only a green screen. I never thought of updating my
Intel chipset driver. You're a life, or should I say, SANITY saver. Thank
you.

RE: Sound, but picture is just a green square

Hi all who are recieving this. I've determined that this issue generally
occurs on Intel 915 video chipsets after a recent update from Microsoft.

If you have Intel 915 chipset, you can get the most recent display drivers
from here for your video chipset:
