Windows Media Player Won't Play Cda Files

When I try to put an audio cd in the then WMP wont recognize it as an audio CD? Apart from that Windows Media Player will play everything else on my pc like for example it will play .wav file to dvd files and also eveyrthing else from the internet. I dont know how all of a sudden it stopped recognizing the CDA files? Can anyone please help me out? Thanks for any reply in advance

It seems to me like you have some kind of auto insert notification option disabled in your computer. If it is disable then you can try to solve the problem by following the below workaround:

    1. First of all you have to go to the start menu and then open a new Microsoft Management Console by running mmc at a command line.
    2. After that on the Console menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in and then click Add to display the installed snap-ins.
    3. Now you have to press "add" look for the Group Policy snap-in and click on ADD
    4. After that click Finish and then click Close and press OK
    5. Now you have to expand Local Computer Policy to the following: "\Computer Configuration\Administrative templates\System"
    6. Here you have to double-click on Disable Autoplay and then select Enabled
    7. Apply the change and then click on OK

Thank you very much for the solution but I am not able to find the Group thing that you have told me to open and also Auto Play is enabled but even after that I am still getting the error message C00D1197. Is there any other solutions. Thanks

You can try to resolve this problem by following the below steps:

    1. Start Registry Editor and find the following registry key:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaResources\mci
    2. Export the cdaudio key, and then delete the cdaudio key.
    3. Restart your computer, and then try to play an audio CD.
    4. You can expect to play audio CDs and not receive an error message.
