| Can't play DVDs on WMP 11 & Vista
Hi All - I am settng a Vista Enterprise Edition OS and am running into trouble getting DVDs to play on WMP 11. I initally would get this message when trying to play a commercial DVD movie: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer. So I purchased Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1-ESD from Roxio. Now I get this erroron WMP 11: Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings. I have made every reasonable adjustment but still get this error. Any suggestions? TIA Mike Sorry about the cross post, I didn't realize there was a WMP group. |

The plug-in that allows WMP11 to play DVDs can be purchased at http://www.intervideo.com/products/c...media_pack.jsp I know you already bought one from Roxio but I can't vouch for it. The one I use I got from the URL posted. | RE: Can't play DVDs on WMP 11 & Vista
I am having the same problem Mike is having. Excuse me but i'm not responsible for purchasing a plug in because the media player crapped out with the Vista installation...how pathetic. I bought Vista upgrade with the intention that ALL components will work properly. What a jip! | Re: Can't play DVDs on WMP 11 & Vista
I am having the same problem. I have Windows Vista Home Basic. I couldn't originally play DVDs on WMP 11 because of an Audio codec I was missing so I downloaded the K-lite Codec pack. And then tweaked my settings and it worked fine, now all of a sudden I can't play DVDs because the follow error message comes up. "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings." I did this but I still get the same error message. I also have VLC and I tried the DVDs on that, but it screws up and won't play, I don't understand this because it use to work fine. Please help. |
