WM Player Network Sharing Service not starting

Hello,

I am using Windows XP SP2 with Windows Media Player 11. Since yesterday I’m trying to enable Media Sharing but not getting it done. I’ve also enabled all settings required for the same as well as "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" is set to Automatic. Still when I try to start “Media Sahring”, it says: “Error 1008: An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist.”

Later when I checked local event log, this is what I found there:

“Event ID : 14332
Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly because CoCreateInstance(CLSID_UPnPDeviceFinder) encountered error '0x80029c4a'. Verify that the UPnPHost service is running and that the UPnPHost component of Windows is installed properly.”

Any help would be appreciated.

The error is related to the UPnP service. Have you done any changes or customization recently on your system? I guess so because something has disabled the UPnP service and hence you getting “Error: Cannot load Type Library”. Just Google with the error and see if you get the steps to enable the same anywhere.
