XBOX360 doesn't find files on external network drive

I downloaded the Xbox Live Fall Update and WMP 11. My Xbox 360 and PC can
see/connect to each other fine. However, my media files (songs, pics,
videos) are in an external network drive connected to the router. I can play
those files from my PC and are part of the "monitored folders" list, but the
360 cannot find those files. I looked hi and lo and all the instructions I
found are instructions on how to share with a remote PC/server, but nothing
about a stand-alone network drive per se. Please help. Thanks!

So it's on a different computer entirely? In that case, look up
"EnableRemoteContentSharing". Remote drives have all sorts of fun/nasty
permissions/security issues, so WMP generally walks away from those
headaches. However, via the ERCS you can set that up yourself.

No it's not on a different computer per se, the files are on a Network
Attached Storage (NAS).

Right, then EnableRemoteContentSharing is probably what you want then. I
believe a quick search should find the references/information.

Finally had a chance to try this, and it worked for me! Thanks zachd.
