wmp security component upgrade - help

Since last couple of weeks while playing any music or videos, I get prompted by Windows Media Player many tiumes to upgrade wmp security component. After getting this more than 20 times, I thought to upgrade it finally. But the upgrade button was unclickable. It was grayed out.

I search for some solution on web and found many people saying to renamed DRM folder. I also found a procedure for doing the same. But the strange thing is that there is no DRM folder at the provided location.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Hello supreme, you haven’t provided which operating system you are using? What is the version of your Windows Media Player? Also can you just check the following log and copy the last 20 lines in your reply: c:\windows\wmsetup.log

Just visit the following URLs and see if you are able to click the upgrade button:

    http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/
    http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/crlupdate/

if they are clickable then you problem will be solved and if not, then probably your DRM cache is corrupt and you will need to restore the DRM store.

I'm very challenged when it comes to stuff like this. I want to download music but I come up with this...Failed:-1072879743 A problem has occurred in retrieving the Digital Rights Management machine identification. Contact Microsoft product support.

Re: wmp security component upgrade - help

I tried every thing, but I can't find where to manage my license so I can't seem to do anything else. I did run %SystemRoot%\inf\unregmp2.exe /PerformIndiv and nothing happened. I found out Microsoft has no support for this program. I checked the fixes, but I don't know which one I need.

I'm sending a screen shot of what's in tools of Win 11.

    Thanks,
    Jenn

I solved the problem by importing all my music to RealPlayer first, then rolling back to WM 10, making sure I took out the WM 11 runtime. Everything works great now.
    Thanks for your time.
