The first error that yo are getting means that you need to restart your computer and then second error means that you might have too much of anti-malware application that ended up brokenly that reset the permissions on your pc. Can you try to rename the registry keys such as HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMPlayer.OCX and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMPlayer.OCX.7 and then try to reinstall, after that check if it is working or not?

I have restarted too many times and have followed many fixes that are given in the other discussions board and have also scanned for spyware by using windows defender and Windows Live one care but nothing seems to be working in my case. I have even tried to rename the registry keys but I am unable to do it, because it seems to me that the registry editor is locked and I am unable to rename it or either delete it. Thank you anyways.

Thats absolutely right for this kind of problem that you are facing, since you are not able to rename or delete the registry keys, you wont be able to install the Windows Media Player 11. So what you need to do is, just right click on the registry keys and then select Permissions and then make sure that the user name has Full Control. After that close the dialog box and then try to rename the registry keys. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the clearification now I have changed the Permissons and then deleted the keys as well and installed Windows Media Player without any issues.

A resolution for this problem is available on the Windows Update Web site, on the Microsoft Update Web site, and from the Microsoft Download Center. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center: Download the Update for Windows XP (KB922582) package now from here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...1-3886AFDC6E73
