Windows media player 12 not recognizing mp4 length in Library

Hello everyone I wanted to share a small problem with you and the problem is that the windows media library does not recognizes the length of the mp4 track, now I need to know why is that so? All the tracks does gets played normally and there is no such issue with the the media player. Why is that only the library giving the same problem?

Well, the only solution for the problem is to try reloading the Library of the windows media player and that will sort out the issue for you. Let me know if it works or not.

Is it the case with only one track or all the tracks, if that is the case with all the tracks then there is a possible entry of the virus in the system and the only possible solutions that looks to me is a thorough scanning of the computer with a good antivirus program. There are many free antivirus that you can choose from like for example Avg, Avast, Mcafee, etc.

Reporting the problem to the Microsoft support staff will be a good idea for you because I think they must be aware of such problems. Also try to update your windows media player and see if that works.

You can try to rebuild the Windows Media Player database and see if that helps:

    1. Exit Windows Media Player.
    2. For Windows XP:
    3. Click Start, click Run, type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
    4. You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.
    5. Restart Windows Media Player.
    6. Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
