| Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play
I had music on an external hard drive and uploaded it to the library in WMP 11. The hard drive crashed and I had to get a new hard drive and transfer the music to that. Now how do I get the new library of music from my external hard drive to WMP11 because when I go into WMP11, and try and play any music I get this."Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I am assuming it's because it's pointing to the old hard drive (although they have always been in the same location-drive "J"). I can play music from my external hard drive in Napster, on the internet, and through other sources, but cannot play any through WMP11. How do I get the info. from my ext. hard drive to WMP11? |

The files on the new hard drive are probably in a different folder than they were on the old. You can probably move them so the file locations match with the old ones, and WMP will find them again. Regards |

You should be able to press F3 to bring up the Monitor Folders dialogue, then click Advanced. Add the new drive (letter and/or folder) and WMP should update all the tracks it previously knew about with their new location.
