You might try to connect both wired as some routers don't bridge LAN and WLAN correctly. |

Hi - take a look at this link "What are the network requirements?" http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ing.mspx#q20_6 In particular as you've mentioned Domains, you may be on, or participate in a coroporate network. In the case this uses IPSEC (i.e. you use a VPN to access the domain), the link above is very applicable and you'd have to turn off IPSEC to be able to use the sharing service. Even if it isn't you'd need to ensure your XP machine wasn't on a public and a private network at the same time. The sharing service is designed deliberately not to share over the public internet, so only within a local subnet (i.e behind a router, on a private IP address), HTH Cheers - Neil On Wed, 20 May 2009 04:15:47 +0530, Largo <Largo.3sghvb@DoNotSpam.com> wrote: > >Help please. > >Situtation: >Win XP Pro SP3 - logon to a cached domain - to longer connect to >server >- tried setting up a new user logged on to pc and not domain with not >results >WPM11 - Sharing enabled - don't see Xbox >Win Services set to auto and started >-Universal Plug & Play Device Host >-WMP Networking Sharing Service >-SSDP >DRM under All Users cleared >Win Firewall with port forwarding open as noted >PC connect to router wirelessly >Xbox 360 wired to same router >Xbox 360 with NXE OS - can connect to Xbox Live >Router with ports open (Xbox Live, additionally same ports open as Win >Firewall with PC selected) >Router shows IP addresses of both Xbox and PC connected >Symantec Antivirus 10 >Windows Defender 1.1 > >Xbox does not see PC >PC does not see Xbox > > >Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2009 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs |

Hi Neil, Thanks for your reply. I've done so many things to try to make it work I forgot to mention in my initial post that I had already switch IPSEC to manual. I no longer run vpn or connect to the corporate network / domain though I still use my old corporate log-on which has a domain CORPDOMAIN to log-on to the pc. That I believe (I'm not very knowledgeable about networks) that is called a cache domain??? But having admin rights I created a separate log-on directly to the pc with same results. I believe the pc and xbox are on the same subnet ipconfig /all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : MYPCNAME Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : corp.XXX.com Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : corp.YYY.com Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hyperband.com Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-19-D2-02-1D-27 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.198 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Tuesday, May 19, 2009 1:31:43 AM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, May 20, 2009 1:31:43 AM PC netconfig Server Name \\MYPCNAME Server Comment Software version Windows 2002 Server is active on NetbiosSmb (000000000000) NetBT_Tcpip_{521A6049-0F4E-4382-ADBD-5873EE303AF6} (0019d2021d27) Server hidden No Maximum Logged On Users 10 Maximum open files per session 16384 Idle session time (min) 15 The command completed successfully. browstat Status for domain CORPDOMIAN on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{521A6049-0F4E-4382-ADBD-5873EE303AF6} Browsing is active on domain. Also I found this statement: "If your computer is on a domain, make sure the computer as been added to the Windows Authorization Access group in Active Directory. Most home setups are not on a domain. If you are on a domain, someone set it up, and that person should check this. " On http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/...3-pcmedia1.htm Which I don't know what to do with... |
