| error: no audio device installed I get this message when I try to use any audio, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." I have an HP 9 mini-netbook. It came with 1GB, I added 1GB. My grandchildren somehow updated me from Media player 9 to 11. I just want to hear some sound. I have rebooted, and screamed my head off. I am no IT tech. Any help would be appreciated. I bought the computer new from Bestbuy i12/2008. They will do nothing for me. Since I am unable to drive, there is not much I can do except pay $259.00 to let the "Geek Squad "fix it. That is not an option. I only paid $350.00 for the netbook, and I love it. Sorry for the dissertation. Thank you in advance for any advice. Linda Rousay CEO of {Computer Illiterates Anonymous} or 57 year old retired grandmother o f14. |

| Re: error: no audio device installed Does any audio at all work on the system? Is the right audio output selected in WMP's Tools:Options:Devices:Speakers menu option? What audio card is it? Is there a driver update available on that audio card vendor's web site? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
