| Please insert a blank disk in drive E
My OS is Windows XP and I'm using Windows Media 11. I am unable to burn CD's both data and audio using my 'writing' drive E. I keep getting the message telling me to insert a blank disk in the drive. The drive fails to recognise that a disk has been inserted. I've tested the drive by inserting a data disk and this is recognised and runs automatically. However nothing happens when I insert a DVD or audio CD. Previously I've had no problem. I haven't tried to burn anything for over a year now so maybe I've installed or uninstalled something which has now caused the problem. The drive description is HL - DT - ST - CD-RW GCE-8483B if this means anything to anyone. I've tried reducing the hardware connected to my USB ports and this seems to permit data disks to be recognised in the E drive but even when I disconnect all of the the drive still won't play CD's or DVD's. As a humanitarian act, is there anyone out there who can help prevent me from propelling the PC through my front window? Save a PC now! Steve |
