Using Windows Media Player on Win Server 2008

I have Windows Media Player 11 installed in Windows Server 2008 but i am not able to access Media Sharing Feature of Media Player. I want to know if there is a need for installing Windows Media Services on the Server 2008 or i can use WMP as XP-Client. If i can use it as XP-Client than what will i have to do to access its Media Sharing Feature?

In order to access Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service you should have below services running:
    1. SSDP Discovery
    2. UPnP Device Host

Just make sure that they are running and let me know if you are not able to access it even after that.

You wont be able to access Media Sharing Feature of Media Player in Windows Server 2008 . Media Sharing Feature can be accessed and activated on client systems only and you wont be able to access it or activate it on server system, Hope that clears your doubt.
