Can't play burned DVDs in home player

I have tried several different ways to burn my movies onto DVDs so I could
watch them on my home players, nothing seems to work. The DVDs will play on
my laptop through Windows Media and other programs on my computer, but when I
put them in my home players I get an error message saying that there is no
playback feature on the disc. I don't know what else to do.
Thanks in advance for the help!

What file types are they?
What program are you using to burn?

Can't play burned dvds in home player

I'm recording in windows. All of the files have .avi at the end. I really
don't understand all of the file names and such so I don't know if that is
what you were asking. Thanks for your help. In the meantime I will check out
the website you suggested.

Yeah, most home players don't support ".avi". AVI is random.

Try burning it as an actual DVD. =\
