error message C00D1199 & C00D11D4 while using Windows Media Playe

This is Windows Vista laptop running with Windows Media Player 11. Since last few days whenever I play any video file, it goes fine for about 10 minutes and suddenly gives me error message saying “error message C00D1199 while using Windows Media Player”

Few times it also adds the following with the above error message:

“Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.”

I tried searching for solution on web and they said to replace the codec. The existing codec installed were Windows Media Audio 9 and Windows Media Video 9. Later I went to wmplugins.com and downloaded/installed Media Video 9 Decoder and Windows Media Audio Standard Decoder but still getting the same problem.

Now I don’t have anything left to try out. Somebody please help.

Installing Media Video 9 Decoder and Windows Media Audio Standard Decoder were surely not going to help because these packages are pre-installed in WMP 11 on Vista systems. As far as the problem is concerned, did you tried playing those files on any another media player such as VLC ? If not, see if it works there because most likely it seems like file may be corrupted in some way. Do it and let me know the results.

    Hello Billie,

Even am facing the same problem with WMP 11 and Vista. In my case it is avi files creating error “unable to play - error message C00D1199”. As per your suggestions, I tried playing them in VLC and it works fine. So the files are OK and not corrupted, right?

Also the problem is not with just one files, but with multiple avi files. what could be the problem?
