WMP11 "Add to Library..." does not work anymore

I was able to install wmp11 fine and it work great but last week for some reason two pieces stopped working. the Add to Library and Media sharing with a xbox360. when i go to library and open the window to add files and in the display area called Monitored Folders is new blank and nothing is in there. I have tried to select a folder and add it in and nothing happens. both option (My personal folder and My folders and those of others that i can access) do not work. But the files that i had in there before the problem are in the library but if i add files to the folder where the working files are they are not added to the library. i cant find a reason why this is happening. i have done a rollback and it did nothing. i am using XP home.

At the same exact time the other problem happened, my media Sharing stopped working with the Xbox. i have gone to manage and looked at the services and they are all running and i have restarted then and its still not working. I get this message:

"Media sharing has been turned off because a required Windows setting or component has changed. For additional assistance, click Web Help."

i click help and did the help stuff and still nothing is happening.

my only other option is to reformat again because windows cant seem to make a reliable product!

Any help would be great.

Thanks that worked for me too. My question is how did these files become corrupted in the first place? My story is similar to GSUpHead's only I was streaming to my PS3. Now I am afraid to access my collection through my PS3. Help.
