No image sound only on avi files

I have Windows XP installed on my system, Whenever I am trying to play avi files in my windows media player, video plays perfect with sound but there is no visual. My WMP version is 11. Can you give me some ideas to fix it ?

Please post here what it list so that we can suggest a decoder http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/ which will not harm your machine in circumstances.
