Audio books not syncing in proper sequence

This is Windows Media Player with Windows XP. I keep on ripping audio books on WMP in mp3 or wma format. But now since last couple of days whenever I sync them, the files seem to be out of order from the way I ripped them. The same thing happens when I sync them to my Sansa Fuze. Tracks use to be in proper order but not the audio books. I never had this problem in WMP 10. Is this the fault of WMP 11?

Is there any way to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Hello IndrneeL, can you just tell me if the files play back is proper in Fuze by file-name order or by metadata-title
order? Just reply with the same.

Thanks for the prompt reply friend, but I don’t know what is meant by metadata-title. Can you be more specific about this please? As far as I know my Sansa is able to play the actual name of the book by its title, disc #, track #, MP3.

    Thanks again.

Hey can you just tell me how the tracks are sorted in Windows Media Player? And what are the filenames for a set of audio books in question?

    Hey cayennejim 466,
I came accross a similar problem when transfering an audiobook onto a creative zen. The player is reorganising the files not based on the file name like its supposed to but on the metadata or tag which looks like this '#'
You can view the order of the files for yourself by clicking # to go in ascending order. If you can't see it, right click anywhere along the bar with "Name", "Date Modified", "Artist" and "Album" and select it from there. The only way I now how to change the info in this column is to download a free program from NCH called "stamp". This will allow you to change this and other metadata info too.
If you find a better way to do this, please me know
