| WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER HAS STOPPED WORKING. (MEDIA PLAYER 11)
I AM USING MEDIA PLAYER 11, MY GF AND I EACH HAVE OUR OWN DESKTOP. IT WORKS ON HERS, BUT ON MINE, WHEN I OPEN IT, IT FREEZES AND I GET THIS MESSAGE: A PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAM TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY. WINDOWS WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAM AND NOTIFY YOU IF A SOLUTION IS AVAILABLE. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE?? |

This is from my Problems and solutions and also my Event Viewer. There is no urge.dll on my system. I did not choose to use or join urge when I initially set up. There's more steps in that KB. Follow the Reset steps now. I don't believe uninstalling/reinstalling would do anything at all here. The Reset should fix you up, though. |

Since August 1, I have also been getting this message shortly after Media Player starts. I am Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I have been to your website and no solution seems to solve this problem. I have uninstalled Nero (even though before August it was working with Nero installed) and any other third party plug-ins. My bucket ID is 2358204. I am getting ready to do a reinstall of the OS. Because I am getting nowhere in solving this. I'll be going back to XP or may it is time to get a Mac. |

What's the full crash data for that - the Application Name, Application Version, etc? The bucket ID you mention doesn't map to anything in the 64bit space. In the 32bit space, it loosely maps to an IE failure which already has a published response. Is 'urge.dll' present on this system? |

Hi zachd, Can you tell me what you mean by "you need to reset your DRM store? I'm getting the same message as the other guy . . . WMP will play in the preview section of my files (a .wav or .MP3 or some video file) and it will also play them when WMP is open on its own. However, when I stop the song or the movie, I get the same message as the other person gets. It worked - then didn't. What did I do and what do I need to undo - or what didn't I do that I need to do? Thanks in advance! Ray |

It's impossible to get proper information about your exact same problem because you (or the techarena site) removed the original information which you're replying to. If you're getting crashes like this, the first step I'd take would be to identify the audio and video hardware supplied / installed in your PC so you know who made it. Then head to the manfacturers websites to get the latest (most recent) driver software for that hardware. For Video, this would often be NVidia, ATI/AMD or Intel. For audio, you might have Realtek, Creative or Sigmatel hardware. For both hardware types, identify what's in the PC (often in Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Hardware) and try to search online for drivers - either windows update, or via the manufacturer website |

Hello Zachd, I noticed you asked if the cpu had been changed and I did not observe a response. I have the same [WMPhas stopped working] and [wmp sharing service has stopped working] problems that this and other forums have talked about. I have recently changed the cpu. I cant' find the 'stopped working' event in event management, and I have tried fixing the DRM file, which currently is 'empty' When I try this, as per the link toarticle ID:891664, it opens WMP automatically and then it immediately closes with the same message. Would it be better to uninstall WMP11 and reinstall? |
